This year marks the 115th anniversary of the birth of Pavel Emelyanovich Kupriyanov and Ivan Timofeevich Lobach, internationalist soldiers and participants in the Spanish Civil War. And if the name of P.E. Kupriyanov today is borne by a street in Polotsk and a kindergarten-basic school in Matyushi of the Polotsk region, a memorial sign was installed in his honor on the Alley of Heroes of the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus and a memorial plaque at the Adamovo station, not everyone knows about I. T. Lobach. The names of Ivan Timofeevich and Pavel Emelyanovich, as well as 180 other dead Soviet volunteers, are immortalized on a monument that was opened on May 9, 1989 at the municipal cemetery of Fuencarral in the suburbs of Madrid.
